Lily's 8th Birthday- Princess Tea Party

We celebrated our Baby turning 8 this weekend.

I always let them pick their birthday party themes, and this year she picked a Princess Tea Party and I thought it was a perfect way to celebrate Princess Lillian.  This was such a fun party to plan, and it turned out adorable. Here a few pictures of some of the party details.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries- Simply strawberries dipped into melted chocolate.
"Petit Fours" - Premade Pound Cake cut into cubes and covered with a glaze icing made from Powdered Sugar, vanilla and cream.

Lady Fingers dipped in Dark Chocolate- I bought premade lady fingers from the Bakery section of Kroger and then dipped them in melted Dark Chocolate
Chocolate Covered Oreos- I just drizzled melted chocolate melts over the oreos.
Marshmallow Pops- These were super simple, but the kids loved them! It is just Giant Marshmallows with a Sucker stick stuck into the bottom and then dipped into melted Chocolate Melts.

Here is the full table including the cake (which was made by me as well)

The cake was a 4 layer white cake covered in buttercream icing. The castle was made from rolling out Fondant and then painting the designs using food coloring. The little flags were made from Scrapbook paper, wooden dowels and rhinestones. The cake was a Huge hit with all of the little Princesses.

I arranged for a teenage girl I knew to dress as a Princess and come read the girls a story. Lily loved it, as she loves books!
The "Princess" also participated in the Photo Booth fun.

All in all, Lily had a Great party!

Gluten Free Peanut Butter Cookies

Gluten Free baking is not easy, and it quite often ends with a not very good product. Gluten free baked good can tend to be kind of gritty and grainy, with a weird after taste. This cookie recipe is actually the recipe I have used since I was a child, (way before I ever knew I was gluten intolerant) and it just so happens to be Gluten Free.

After 10 minutes, and only 3 ingredients you end up with warm, chewy peanut butter cookies.

Ingredients:

2 cups of Peanut Butter (crunchy or smooth, you pick!)
2 cups of White Sugar
2 Eggs

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. In a medium mixing bowl, beat your eggs and sugar together until well combined. Next, add the peanut butter and stir really well. (This is the hardest step, as the dough gets thick and a little hard to stir.) After all ingredients are combined, grease your hands and roll a ball of dough that is about 1 inch wide. Place it on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. The last step is to use a fork to make the crisscross pattern on the top of the cookies. Bake at 375 for approximately 7 minutes. (Because of the high sugar content, these will burn quickly if you do not watch them. You want them to just start turning light brown.)

Allow the cookies to cool on the pan for at least 10 minutes before you move them. They will fall apart if you move them sooner.

Enjoy! :)

Pinterest, oh Pinterest... Where would we be without you?

Pinterest.

It's awesome, right?

Well, at least I think it is. Especially on nights like tonight where it is freezing cold outside and I'm looking for a last minute recipe for something that is warm on cozy. In planning for dinner tonight, I've put together a Pin board full of soup, stews and chili recipes that will hopefully get us through these cold nights! Feel free to check it out Here.

Stay warm!

Oh, Hello there Monday.

Since the Hubs is on a field trip with Belle today, I'm working from home alone.

That means me in my Pj's, coffee from my adorable Owl mug, and Pandora set on the "90's Pop" station.

Ahh, Hello Monday. :)

XOXO,

Fun Fall Tshirts

Our latest project was these fun Fall Tshirts. These were so fun to make, and are super simple.

We made these shirts using Freezer Paper stencils. You can find a few tutorials Here and Here

For their names, I loaded the freezer paper into my Cricut and used the Cupcakes Cartridge's "Girl Font" to cut the names before I ironed the freezer paper onto the shirt. The Pumpkin was drawn freehand, and the leaves were traced from leaf shaped cookie cutters we have.

We used Fabric Paint in Squeeze bottles to add outlines and details to the shirts. This step is completely optional but we loved the completed look it gave. Here's a picture of the shirts before the freezer paper was peeled off.

Below is the final products.

You can make these shirts for any Holiday, or any event. Please feel free to post any questions you may have below and I will do my best to answer them. :)

Happy Fall, y'all!

Four Ingredient Pumpkin Spice Muffins

This Pumpkin Muffin recipe has got to be the easiest recipe I have found! My girls gobble these up every time I make them. Plus, you get the added benefit of making your entire house smell all delicious and Fall Scented! ;)

Ingredients:

1 Box of Cake Mix (Any Brand- I have used White Cake, Yellow Cake, and Spice Cake and all three have turned out about the same.)
1 Can of Pure Pumpkin Puree (Any Brand)
1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon
1/4 Cup of Brown Sugar

Mix all 4 ingredients in a large bowl with an electric mixer. You will NOT be adding the eggs, oil or water that the cake mix calls for. You will ONLY be adding the 4 ingredients listed above. Beat for approx 2 minutes, or until all items are combined and you should have a nice, fluffy dough. Scoop dough into Muffin pan lined with cupcake liners. (Because this dough tends to be a little sticky, I spray the inside of my liners with a little No-Stick cooking spray. This is optional.) This recipe should make 12 muffins. Bake according to the directions on the Cake Mix box for cupcakes. We usually choose to top ours off with a little drizzle of Cream Cheese Icing if I have any in the fridge.

Enjoy!

First Attempt at Bento Lunches

Tonight I tried my hand at making Bento style lunches for my girls. Don't hate on me too much as this was my first try! :)

They are having Turkey and Cheese Rollups, Pringles (which were a special treat that Lily bought "with her own money"), Blueberries, a small Dark Chocolate Square, Cucumbers and Carrots with Ranch Dip.

I need to invest in some better Bento Boxes and the different little containers but you have to start somewhere! I really enjoyed it, and can't wait to make their lunch tomorrow!

I'll post the super easy recipe for the Turkey and Cheese Rollups soon!
